Aaron Halstead
Aaron is President of the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association, and is a qualified IFMGA / UIAGM Mountain and Ski Guide. He has been involved in the climbing world from a young age and has guided or climbed in many parts of the globe, including Antarctica, the Himalayas, India, China, South America, Canada, Alaska and Europe.
Each year he spends around two months guiding off expedition ships in Antarctica, a few months guiding in the New Zealand mountains, and working on international contracts.
In the winter months he is Head of Department, Patrol and Safety Services at The Remarkables and has worked professionally as a Mountain Rescue Team Leader at Mt. Cook and in Queenstown as well as in Alaska and Canada. A qualified Paramedic and Safety Systems Auditor (QSA), Aaron assesses and audits adventure operators nationwide.
Aaron is also experienced in the film industry with credits involving feature films, documentaries and television commercials.
Bruce Hasler
Bruce has been living and working in the outdoor industry in Queenstown since 1993. He is a member of the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association and New Zealand Snowsports Instructors Alliance (former National Examiner).
Bruce has led, and been involved with several Himalayan Expeditions including Makalu (8,463m) Cho Oyu (8,201m) Pumori (7,161m) and Ama Dablam (6,848m). Out of the Himalayas he has climbed in Alaska, Norway, South America, Europe and naturally throughout New Zealand.
Experienced as a high altitude camera operator, Bruce has also had roles in feature films, and numerous television commercials.
Dean Staples
Dean is a qualified UIAGM / IFMGA Mountain and Ski Guide joining Summits Mountain Guiding in 2004. He brings with him 20 years of guiding and climbing experience both within New Zealand and internationally. Dean has successfully guided Mt. Everest six times, as well as Cho Oyu, Shishapangma and Ama Dablam in the Himalaya. He has been a Lead Guide for Himachal Heli Skiing in India, TLH Heli Skiing in Canada and Chief Guide for Harris Mountains Heli Skiing in New Zealand. Years of experience leading ski patrol in New Zealand and internationally help make him a well rounded IFMGA International Mountain and Ski Guide. He is also an Assessor for the New Zealand Mountain Guides Association on both the Climbing and Ski Guides Course.
