  SINGLE CONE - A REMARKABLE SUMMIT

This full day adventure climbs Single Cone (2319m) the highest point above Queenstown. It offers stunning views and the chance for you to easily experience an alpine summit and a taste of mountaineering. This is our most popular activity and is suitable for most people (requiring average fitness).

The climb begins from The Remarkables Ski Field. Ascending gently at first to get beyond the ski area you work your way up past Lake Alta and on towards the highest of The Remarkables summits. At every step you are rewarded with breathtaking views that only get better.

The excitement grows as you reach the summit pyramid. Here the group puts on all the technical gear provided and the guide leads up a couloir to gain the spectacular summit ridge. You are belayed to ensure your safety and you are guided along this exhilarating ridge. The Southern Alps spread out before you as you reach the summit. Time to relax and enjoy a well earned lunch break. Directly beneath you lie Lake Wakatipu and Queenstown.

The Guide leads you back along the ridge and will lower you on the rope down the summit couloir. For those with experience we allow abseiling as an option to regain the more moderate terrain. From here we retrace the steps as you make your way back into the Ski Field and back to the vehicle.

Climbing in this alpine environment you will experience snow, ice and rock, all at moderate levels. When appropriate you will learn the basics of Avalanche Safety to enable safe movement in the mountains.

The 'Remarkables Summit' day is flexible but normally departs at 8am and returns you to your accommodation by 4-5pm. We provide all the necessary technical equipment for the day.

Price: NZ$300 per person

Schedules: This trip is available on a daily basis, weather conditions permitting. Full refunds are provided if trip is cancelled due to weather. Minimum numbers apply.

Departures: We pick you up from your accommodation in Queenstown from 8am.
