The 5 Day AIC is perfect for those coming with some climbing experience, those wanting to learn the skills of leading, and those wanting to add this technical edge to their existing mountaineering skills.

- Ice anchors using a variety of methods and equipment
- Ice climbing technique
- Mixed climbing techniques
- Leading on ice, choosing protection and route selection
- Rope handling skills
- Mountain Conditions and Avalanche terrain assessment
- Gear selection and maintenance
- Essential Snow craft
- Practice to incorporate strength and confidence
- Advance techniques and rescue scenario (if time permits)
There is an option to explore a variety of Ice Climbing areas so we encourage a snow camping experience as part of the course. This is all-inclusive as part of the course.

Price: Price on Application
Includes: Guide/instructor fees, Department of Conservation fees, hut fees or Queenstown accommodation, all food, ground transport, some technical equipment, camping gear and GST.
Mountain locations: We choose the location offering the best ice, and to suit the progression of your skills. There is no obligatory venue so we'll take you to the most appropriate areas and change when necessary. As we are Queenstown's ice specialists you are ensured of the best local knowledge giving you the edge.
Guide Ratio: Maximum of 1 guide to 4 climbers.
Schedule: This trip can run at any time in the peak winter months (July-September). Contact us to register your interest. Minimum numbers apply.
Departures: We pick you up from your accommodation in Queenstown at 9am on the first day of the course.
